Challenge Accepted!

Written By Chiropractic Health and Wellness on August 21, 2013

Many of you know that I am part of the CrossFit community at Tangletown CrossFit. While the working out is the primary purpose of going, I also benefit greatly from the sense of community and accountability that comes from the relationships that are formed there. As a community, many of us have chosen to participate in something called the Whole Life Challenge starting at the beginning of September. It’s an eight week challenge in which the goal is to accumulate as many points as possible. Points are earned in the areas of nutrition, exercise, mobility, supplements, and lifestyle.

As a chiropractor, I am more educated than the average person in most of these areas. That said, it doesn’t necessarily make it any easier for me to tackle some of the challenges that go along with making good choices in each of these areas. For me, the most challenging area will be nutrition. The challenge basically follows a whole foods/paleo model, which means no grains, dairy or sugar. Given how scary this seemed to me at first glance, I’m surprised at how excited I am to get started. I’m excited to push myself past what is initially comfortable, and also excited to see how these changes affect my everyday life from sleeping to performance in my workouts.

I’ll be blogging about my experience as I go and hope that my experience might speak to others. Click HERE to see a link to a video clip that explains more about the theory behind the challenge.
