Family Crossfit

Today we had yet another cold weather school closing in Minneapolis. Now, as the mother of a four year old, this shouldn’t yet affect me, but my daycare closes according to Minneapolis school closings, so we’re in a bind for child care just like everyone else. Fortunately for me, my awesome Crossfit trainer Darcy is a parent herself and decided that if school is out, a perfect solution is to have a family workout of the day.

Milo and I had an awesome time together doing warming up with some rowing, pushups and squats and moving in to a workout of bear crawls, agility work and farmer carries, which basically entails carrying a kettlebell in each hand, much like you would a bag of groceries. It was an awesome chance to get out of the house and blow off some physical energy, but even more importantly, it was another way to show my son that exercise can be really fun. After watching me at the gym on a regular basis, I hope that we’re laying the foundation for him that moving your body and being strong is just a part of life. Based on the pictures, I’d say it was a success!
